SO, I dove in ingredient by ingredient and evaluated and checked with my own providers… Here’s a little of what I found!

 

What is Energize?

  • Beta-alanine

  • Low-dose caffeine (from green tea and coffee bean extract)
    Low-dose caffeine has been shown to be ergogenic (which means it helps enhance performance). It also helps improve reaction time and focus, and reduce exercise-induced muscle fatigue.     • Is it safe? The only setback to Green Tea is the amount of caffeine in it. It is advised for pregnant women to consume 200mg or less per day of caffeine, which is the amount in a typical 12 oz cup of coffee – or 1 scoop of Energize!
  • Quercetin
    This powerful performance-enhancing phytonutrient gets a lot of attention in leading exercise physiology-nutrition laboratories because it can help improve endurance and delay exercise-induced muscle fatigue to help you get through your workouts and give you a competitive edge.

    • Is it safe? Once again this supplement is found in foods such as red wine, onions, apples, berries and others. I should not be taken in excess of 1000mg, however one scoop of Energize contains 500mg of Quercetin.   • Citric Acid (Citric acid is very common in foods. In many fruits and fruit juices, it occurs naturally. Many processed foods also contain citric acid as an additive. Like all acids, it has a sour flavor, but it’s safe for human consumption. As such, it’s popular in processed foods to add tart flavor. There are no scientific studies that suggest citric acid is unsafe for consumption during pregnancy or any other time.
  •  Beet Sugar, Stevia, Silica Most people consume about 20 to 50 milligrams of silica through their diet every day. It is found as an additive to almost every vitamin, including most prenatal vitamins, in very small doses. It is listed last on the ingredient list.
